Blue Ridge Pottery - Studio Tours

Come and take a tour of our Studio and Studio Shop located in the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Our Master Potters and Apprentices are hard at work 7 days a week producing all of the pottery you will find in our two gift shops.

Our artists will often be found either Throwing, using our high-speed Jigger Machine, Hand Building, Trimming, or Glazing as we take each piece of pottery that we make through a 4 week process. We are never too busy to stop, tell you what we're doing, and answer your questions.

We fire our Double Kilns about twice a week. Get here early on Kiln Opening days as 600-1000 new pieces come out each week for you to choose from. Call or check our web site for times. Kiln opening is usually on Tuesdays and Fridays, although this schedule can be affected by weather or the aches and pains of the Potters. Many people love choosing their pieces right from the kiln. Sharing the excitement of a kiln opening is always a great experience. Call ahead to 434-985-6080 for kiln opening days this week.

And if you're really lucky, you'll get to meet Phoenix the Studio Cat. He emerged from under the Kiln one morning and has been here ever since. He guards all of our Greenware and Secret Recipes. He has also been known to take a swipe at people who comment on his weight, so take heed.

We are pleased to tour Schools and Large Groups through our studio. Please call ahead at least one week in advance to schedule a date and time.
